The 2nd Annual Jordan Morgan Foundation Back-to-School Backpack & Haircut Giveaway took place Tuesday, August 16 at the Heilmann Recreation Center in Detroit.
The foundation provided professional haircuts and more than 200 backpacks filled with school supplies.
“Events like this offer us the opportunity to establish a positive presence in the communities that we work in with the families and the children we work with,” said Jordan.
“So for us to be able to stay true to our mission and promote education through a backpack and back-to-school giveaway is really important.”
A DJ played music as the families ate, got their hair cut, and prepared for the school year by receiving backpacks and school supplies. Jordan received hugs and thanks from the families who made it to the event for the second year in a row.
“Today was a really great day,” he said. “The communities in Detroit need more positive interactions like this that bring people together. Even just one day here makes a huge impact.
“They have thanked all of us tremendously for our presence and our gifts to this community.”
