In Awe of Our Free STEM Program for 100 Middle School Kids in Detroit

We are three days away from completing our inaugural LAUNCH! Stem program and I’m in awe of what we’ve accomplished. We started with a goal of 40 students and one site and had to expand to 100 students and three sites to fill demand. That excites me because kids are fired up about learning. It’s why we started the Jordan Morgan Foundation in the first place — to provide opportunity to kids who otherwise wouldn’t have had any. It’s why we took a leap of faith and went ahead with the other two sites even though we hadn’t budgeted for them as a foundation: these kids deserve opportunity. They have made it all worth it with the way they have embraced science, technology, engineering, and math. Our field trips to Google, Ann Arbor Hands On Museum, Michigan Science Center, Yankee Air Museum, Finance Park, University of Michigan, and Lawrence Tech have all provided hands-on experiences to show how education translates to the real world. We have received overwhelming, positive feedback from sponsors, community members, students, parents and grandparents, which is gratifying and humbling. It’s one thing to envision a program and its potential, but another thing entirely to see it thriving. I’m privileged to be able to use basketball as a platform to convey the importance of education to kids in Detroit – something I couldn’t do without you who have donated to our cause. I sincerely thank you for trusting us with your hard-earned money to further the education of these kids. We still have a gap to fill in funding to account for stepping outside our budget to give back to these kids. Any donation — large or small — would be appreciated so we can continue our work within our local community. Thank you for your support, Jordan Morgan
